Vision
To become a hub of state-of-the-art instrumentation and empower scientific excellence
Mission
- To facilitate research and innovation
- To provide training to students
- To enhance the quality of research outcomes
History
The Sophisticated Instruments Centre (SIC) was established in 2012 as a centralized facility for carrying out advanced research work in the field of Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Physical Sciences. The building of SIC was established with the funding received from University Grants Commission under 11th plan. The centre has a well-developed infrastructure with 19 rooms that include 9 Research laboratories, Seminar room, Computer laboratory, Store room and office.
The centre has developed state of art research facilities based on sophisticated instruments such as LC-MS, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), EDX, HPTLC, Particle Size Analyzer, Refrigerated Ultra-centrifuge, Flash Chromatograph, Real Time PCR, Spectroflourimeter, Microphotographic unit, Thermo-cycler, Gel electrophoresis, Gel Doc System, Ultra-Freezer (-80°C), Lyophilizer, Florescent Microscope and Autoclave, etc. These instruments have been procured with the grant mobilized from three funding agencies. In addition to the building, UGC has also provided financial assistance for the purchase of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Majority of the other instruments have been purchased with funding provided by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi under Interdisciplinary Programme in Life Sciences (DBT–IPLS-102/IFD/SAN/4650/2011-2012). As many as 7 instruments, including LC-MS, EDX, Particle Size Analyzer, etc., have been funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) program (1576/IFD/2016-17 date 16 Jan 2017)
Objectives
To provide a centralized facility for carrying out quality research in different fields of science.
To generate research data through sophisticated instruments installed in the centre.
To inculcate scientific temperament among students through workshop and training programs.
